48 CEU for this Training

The Body Knows is a professional training program that will provide you with a strong theoretical base in Somatic Psychotherapy with an emphasis on experience, self-knowledge, practice, and integration.

Each weekend session, participants will have an opportunity to deepen their understanding of somatic psychotherapy through readings, on line resources, power-points and facilitated group discussions. Participants will be exposed to a diverse range of experts, including those who work in the fields of attachment psychology, depth psychology, dance-movement therapy, hakomi, mindfulness meditation, neuroscience, somatic experiencing, sensori-motor psychotherapy, spirituality, and yoga.

Somatic practices will be introduced each session allowing participants to have direct experience and embody their learning. These practices include body awareness, movement explorations, meditation, breathing, sensory awareness, sensory tracking, somatic inquiry, kinetic visualizations, and yoga postures. Participants will be supported in their explorations through Wendy’s expertise, presence, and non-judging attitude that creates a strong and safe container for this work.

The location of this training is at the Yoga Pavilion at the Pepper Tree Retreat in Ojai, California.  the former home of J Krishnamurti and the location of the  Krishnamurti Foundation (KFA) of America. This spot is an exquisite, tranquil and and inspiring environment for self-reflection and integration. Core to this training is cultivating the art of slowing down so that we may integrate the learning from our bodies into our hearts and minds. As our perception shifts through an embodied practice, so do the internal narratives we have held to be true.  New neural pathways light up from new experiences so participants are given ample time for self-reflection through journaling, creative resourcing, walks in nature, and facilitated council with one another to support the process of integration.

Training groups are intentionally small to create a strong container.  This four weekend training series is designed to be taken in full. Please consider joining us and giving yourself the opportunity to have a new experience. For more information on each module, please click the links below.

Pavilion Walk Up

Growing up in the abusive environment I grew up in, I don’t know where I’d be today if it weren’t for Wendy’s guidance. She is kind, caring, patient, and true. She gave me the courage and self empowerment I needed to grow as a person. She showed me the way to independence and self-love. Having Wendy as a therapist was the greatest gift life could have ever given to me.
